Sigma provides variety of services to Urban Ecology Center

The project involved construction of an approximate 16,800-square-foot parking lot and a 250-foot private road extension for the Urban Ecology Center’s E. Park Place campus. The Sigma Group was retained by the Urban Ecology Center to value engineer and complete design of the parking lot and road extension and prepare final construction plans. The parking lot was built in an area occupied by numerous Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) facilities (diversion structures, trash racks) for the NS-6 collector system.

Stormwater Management

Sigma also assisted the Urban Ecology Center with coordination and permitting of the work with the MMSD. In addition, although not required by regulation, innovative stormwater practices consisting of pervious concrete pavement and bio-infiltration swales were designed into the project to provide sustainable design elements and also create educational opportunities related to stormwater management for the facility.

Construction Management

Sigma provided limited services during construction consisting of review of contractor submittals, response to contractor RFIs, periodic site visits to observe construction progress and preparation of a final punchlist for completion of the project.
