Three Bridges Park hosts its first Urban Candlelight Hike in Milwaukee
The Sigma Group was proud to see one of its signature projects host a fun, fit and free event at the Urban Candlelight Hike through Three Bridges Park here in Milwaukee on Saturday, February 25.
Hundreds of families, friends and even a few dogs enjoyed seasonably chilly Wisconsin weather walking two miles of candlelit and lightly snow covered trails along the banks of the Menomonee River. The Urban Ecology Center provided guided hikes, while most participants casually walked under the starlit sky enjoying stops for ice sculpting, roasting marshmallows, hot chocolate and churros, Palermo’s Pizza dinner buffet and Rishi Tea tasting, followed by a gathering at Third Space Brewing.
Three Bridges Park has connected Milwaukee urban communities since opening in 2013. Sigma provided a wide array of civil and environmental engineering services helping transform the former marshland and industrial site into a 24-acre park that is part of the Hank Aaron State Trail. Sigma’s work at Three Bridges Park provided technical expertise in areas like surveying, environmental restoration, riverbank stabilization and more, while helping plan and design the overall project with key community stakeholders.
By supporting events like the Urban Candlelight Hike, Sigma and others promote the expanding use of bike and pedestrian trails, paths, bridges, tunnels and riverbanks in Milwaukee’s restored natural urban environment.
