The Sigma Group and crystalline silica monitoring

Published On: April 10, 2017

In response to federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules designed to protect workers from inhaling crystalline silica, businesses must now comply with significantly lower silica exposure limits. The Sigma Group (Sigma) can assist by monitoring and evaluating potential employee exposures.

Crystalline silica is a mineral found in materials regularly used for roads, buildings and sidewalks such as sand, stone, rock, concrete, brick, block and mortar. Workers can be exposed to silica dust when cutting, sawing, drilling, and crushing these products.

Sigma provides industrial hygiene monitoring to assess employee exposure to airborne contaminants including crystalline silica. Our engineers conduct scientific on-site observations, and then review processes, equipment and monitoring data to provide concise reports compare the results to OSHA standards.

Contact Sigma for further information on silica dust evaluations.
