Sigma design paves way for residential development

Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

A large former industrial parcel located near downtown Wauwatosa remained undeveloped for almost 10 years due to challenges posed by elevated concentrations of chlorinated solvent components across the majority of the site. Following completion of extensive site investigation activities that identified several “hot-spot” areas, The Sigma Group developed a cost-effective remedial approach that received approval from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and allowed the residential redevelopment to move forward on schedule.

A critical component of Sigma’s approach was the design and installation of vapor intrusion mitigation systems associated with each proposed site building. The robust systems were installed as part of construction. Sigma provided services during construction to ensure system components were installed as designed and completed post-installation testing prior to occupancy to demonstrate the systems effectively mitigated vapor intrusion risks to future building occupants.
