
Sigma Presents at 2019 Surveyors Institute
At this year’s Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors (WSLS) Annual Institute, Kevin Slottke, PLS and Adam Hammen, PE presented Construction Layout – Do’s and Don’ts and GIS into Civil 3D Data, respectively.
Organized in 1952, WSLS is a statewide volunteer organization committed to the advancement of the surveying profession holding the Annual Institute for it’s members to exchange information about the practice.
Kevin provided an insightful presentation on the subject of construction staking. He shared best practices for layout, set-up, and field procedures, from plan to stake-in-the-ground, based on over 20 years of experience. He included many practical examples of various construction staking challenges and how to avoid making mistakes.
Adam Hammen discussed the renaissance happening with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. His presentation focused on the latest opportunities and methods to integrate GIS information into surveying, mapping CAD-based work-flows, and bring greater value and efficiencies to organizations.
