Sigma gives back at Milwaukee Ultimate Eco-Urban Exploration
Employees of The Sigma Group rose to the challenge of supporting local homeless veterans and the community responded at the inaugural Milwaukee Ultimate Eco-Urban Exploration (MUE-UE) on Saturday, September 30.
The MUE-UE event was organized by company leaders to further efforts to engage our employees with the community we serve, provide an opportunity to develop leadership with our team, and practice being a “giving organization.” We found the perfect concept with MUE-UE by creating a non-competitive yet challenging event showcasing Milwaukee’s trails and waterways with runners, rowers and bicyclists traversing the urban wilderness.
Seeking to support local military veterans, especially those struggling with housing and other issues, Sigma connected with the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative (MHVI) and decided their mission of enabling homeless and at-risk veterans to reach and maintain their highest levels of independence was the perfect fit.
The results of this effort were outstanding as Sigma employees came together as organizers and volunteers, while MU-EUE athletes enjoyed a beautiful fall day of running, kayaking and cycling. Of course, no Milwaukee event would be complete without some German “gemutlichkeit” as everyone celebrated together with pretzels, sausage, beverages and Oktoberfest music.
The Sigma Group sincerely and deeply thanks all participants, sponsors and volunteers who made the first MUE-UE so special. We look forward to continuing the support of MHVI and our community!
