[responsive][/responsive]The Sigma Group, was retained to complete a comprehensive inspection and create a 3D CAD model of a historic manufacturing facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
With the combined use of an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) and a terrestrial LiDAR scanner, Sigma was able to survey and model over 100,000 square feet of warehouse space. The UAS was also used to complete an aerial inspection of a large smokestack on the building.
This application of UAS technology proved to be a safe and efficient alternative to manned inspection, as Sigma obtained a detailed, real-time look at the condition of the smokestack and facade gathering high-quality photo and video documentation of the structure.

Detailed (sub 1cm accurate) interior and exterior point clouds generated with the LiDAR scanner and drone technology can be used in various industry-standard programs to view existing floor plans and elevations and model existing site features. Additionally, these point clouds offer an excellent starting point for planning and modeling potential renovation and redevelopment ideas.
