Quad Graphics’ growth and more in Menomonee Falls
Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin
First Park Menomonee Falls undertook the light industrial development of an unimproved site of approximately 52 acres. The overall project involved mass grading to create four pad-ready industrial lots, two public road extensions, creation of a regional stormwater management basin, traffic signalization and intersection improvements, extension of public sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermain into the site, and the construction of the 406,000-square-foot Quad Graphics Distribution Center.
Services provided by Sigma included:
Civil/Site Engineering
Sigma provided complete site engineering services for the overall development as well as build out of the Quad Graphics facility including preparation of erosion control plans, grading / drainage plans, earthwork calculations, public and private utility plans and stormwater management facility design. Sigma was also responsible for obtaining all required approvals and permits for the site work from appropriate regulatory agencies.
Natural Resources Permitting
The project involved significant regulatory coordination and permitting efforts associated with pre-existing wetland areas on the project site. The overall success of the development hinged on obtaining proper wetland permits and approvals from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers. Sigma was responsible for coordinating and managing these successful permitting efforts.
Surveying Services
Sigma provided extensive surveying services for the project including performance of supplemental design surveys, preparation of a detailed tree survey, Certified Survey Map, legal descriptions and exhibits for required easements and construction staking services for the overall development and for the Quad Graphics facility.
Construction Management
Sigma was contracted by the Village of Menomonee Falls to provide construction engineering services for the overall development including coordination and inspection of public roadway extensions, intersection improvements and public utility extensions. Sigma also provided construction inspection services to the developer for build-out of the Quad Graphics facility.
Awards
The project was awarded the 2009 Wisconsin Builder Top Projects Award in special recognition of the project team who successfully prevailed when facing complex environmental challenges and conditions associated with developing the project site.
