Sigma helps create space for senior housing
Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
Located at a busy intersection in the City of Wauwatosa and developed on fill and adjacent to a closed former municipal landfill, this multi-family senior housing complex required significant coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) to address fill conditions and vapors emanating from the former landfill.
The Sigma Group assisted the developer with environmental regulatory permitting, approval, assessment and the design phase. Sigma worked closely with the developer, builder and WDNR to assess vapor conditions and design a suitable vapor management system for this residential development. Sigma negotiated a cost-effective design solution approved by the WDNR and installed at the project, allowing it to proceed on schedule and within budget.
Progress on the Cedar Glen Housing project included the following steps:

1 – Original former landfill location

2 – Fill removal excavation

3 – Installing vent piping

4 – Installation of vapor barrier
